Reflections on the Judicial Function, 2024

How will the advances in technology, engineering and health affect the role of the judiciary?

How should the judiciary respond to rapid social and environmental and technological changes?

What are the contemporary issues confronting the judiciary and the community?

This two-and-a-half-day program is directed at experienced (mid- career) judges and magistrates. It provides an opportunity to reflect upon the role of a judge and the rule of law across cultures and enables the exploration of contemporary themes and social challenges.

The program is aimed at trial judges with less than five years’ experience.

During this judicial education program, participants will focus on judicial skills that are governed and enhanced by judicial practice rather than matters that are determined by rules of law.

By the end of this Program, participants will:

This sharing of experience and practice, led by experienced judges and facilitators, will enable judges to return to their respective courts with useful information about jury management in other places.
