The Commonwealth Sentencing Database is a joint project of the Judicial Commission of NSW, the Office of the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions and the National Judicial College of Australia. It was established and is maintained with the assistance of grants made by the Commonwealth Government.

The statistics component is operated using software of the Judicial Commission of NSW and statistics provided by the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions.

The Principles & Practice component is a joint project of the National Judicial College of Australia and the ANU College of Law. The commentary has been reviewed by a panel of academics from the ANU College of Law.
